This pen and ink drawing of the Southeast Lighthouse is a commissioned piece and a gift for a bride and groom. It has taken me a while to get to it but the summer season has begun and I have finally crossed it off my "to do" list!
The forsythia has bloomed and is now just beginning to
leaf. The cooler weather here on Block Island has
slowed things down considerably. This cottage sits
near the corner of Old Town Road on Block Island
and the strong shadows inspired me to sketch it.
The color ranges of spring on a slightly cloudy
day is so lovely. The shad blooming and the sudden
burst of spring blossoms abound. This little home sits
overlooking Rodman's Hollow and appears lost in the
dense blooms.
This summer cottage is located directly across the road from the ocean. The water you see in back of the house is a salt water tidal pond, You can often see clammers as well as an oyster farm from the back yard
and a variety of shorebirds of all kinds.
